Biography

1776 Project
Ensign Samuel Olmstead served with Albany County, New York Militia during the American Revolution.

Samuel Olmstead is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A086314.

Samuel Olmstead was born September 13, 1737, East Haddam, Middlesex Co., CT

Described as the great-grandfather of Samuel Olmsted, born December 15, 1829, the following was noted:

. . . Samuel Olmsted, came to East Haddam, Conn., in 1767, afterward settling in Columbia County, N.Y., and received a deed of land from King George of England. He was in the French and Indian and Revolutionary wars. [1]

He married about 1775 Esther Roberts and they have nine children including Polly Olmstead

Samuel is buried in the Flatbrook Cemetery, Columbia County, New York.[2]
