Johannes was born 19 June 1773 and baptized in the Reformed Dutch Church of Hackensack, New York, on 18 July 1773, recorded as the child of Andries Oostrum and Sara Louw. The witnesses were Johannes Louw and his wife.[1]
John Ostrom died on 21 April 1846, age 72 years, 9 months, 2 days (according to the transcript of his grave stone) and is buried in the Baptist churchyard in Netherwood, Pleasant Valley, Dutchess County, New York.[2]
