Jimmy Page was born in London, England to James Page and Patricia Elizabeth Page (née Gaffikin) in 1944. He grew up in a typical middle class household. His father was a personnel manger and his mother was a physician's secretary. The family moved to Surrey when Jimmy was about ten. It is there that he found a guitar left behind by the previous owners in his new home. This find was the catalyst of legendary music career. He taught himself how to play the guitar and never learned to read music. That did not stop him from becoming one of the top three rock guitarists to have ever played.
He was first inspired by American Blues music to which he added a faster beat and made it his own. This led to the popularity of one of his bands, The Yardbirds; and the stratospheric popularity of his legendary band, Led Zeppelin.
Jimmy has twice been inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, has been awarded the Kennedy Center Honors and countless other awards. His influence on rock as a musician, songwriter and producer have forever earned him his place as rock royalty. One of the all-time greats.
