Biography

This Lucy Palmer was born 23 Dec 1734 at Stonington, Connecticut, the first child of Thomas Palmer and Priscilla Chesebrough.

Cautionary Note: There were at least three Lucy Palmers living in Stonington contemporaneously. Per both Wheeler (1900) and the Palmer Genealogy, this one, b. 23 Dec 1734 to Thomas & Priscilla (Chesebrough) Palmer, married 19 Sep 1755 Charles Thompson. There were no children of this marriage. No death date of Charles Thompson is yet evident.

As to the possibility that she may have had a second spouse named Stephen Miner (or Minor), neither Wheeler nor the Palmer Groups genealogy list such person as a spouse of this particular Lucy Palmer, nor was Wheeler precise as to which Lucy Palmer might have become the spouse of Stephen Miner on March 7, 1757 [1]. Thus whereas we may presume that this particular Lucy Palmer could have become the wife of Stephen Minor at a slightly later time than she was married to Charles Thompson, thus could have become the mother of the children named Lucy, Sabra, and Stephen Miner as profiled herein, we might maintain a healthy bit of skepticism on that point.

Another Lucy Palmer was b. 23 Sep 1737 to Nathaniel & Mary (Chesebrough) Palmer. She in 1760 became the wife of Andrew Palmer (he was her second cousin), and they had 6 children together[2][3]. This other Lucy Palmer died 15 Aug 1776, after which time Andrew Palmer married for the second time, so she was not the spouse of Stephen Miner.

A third Lucy Palmer, b. 26 Jun 1739 to Elizabeth (Sanford) and Ichabod Palmer, is unaccounted for in terms a spousal relationship, nor is anything else yet evident about her.

This Lucy (Palmer/Thompson) perhaps Miner, died 4 Mar 1828 at Stonington.
