The story according to the Parker Heritage website (which is an excellent website for connecting with other Parker family members), is Charlie (Charles) Parker was "disowned" from his family. Incidentally, this is also the same Parker family group that model/actress Suzy Parker and her model sister Dorian Leigh are from.
