Mary Payne's married name is not known except that Rachael Payne Leigh mentioned Mary's daughter in her will as being "Naomi Williams". The extrapolation that Mary Payne married a man named Williams is a possibility. It is equally as likely, however, that Naomi married a man whose name might have been Williams and Naomi's married name is the one mentioned by Rachael. Here is the listing from Rachael's will:
"Item. I give and bequeath to NAOMI WILLIAMS (sister MARY's daughter) fifty dollars to her and her heirs."
Birth
Birth: 2 AUG 1757 Kershaw County, South Carolina
