Biography

Louisa Pelton, daughter of Thomas Avery Pelton and Julia Aner (King) (Pelton) Baxter, was born on 1 April 1817 at Colchester, Delaware County, New York, USA. [1][2][3]

She married Albert Smith, son of Freeman Smith and Polly Ann (Baxter) Weeks, on 29 Nov. 1835.[4]

She and Albert Smith appeared on the census of 1840 at Farmington, Tioga Co., Pennsylvania.[5] She and Albert appeared on the census of 3 Sep. 1850 at Farmington, Tioga Co., Pennsylvania.[6] She and Albert appeared on the census of 14 Aug. 1860 at, Steuben Co., New York.[7] She and Albert appeared on the census of 7 Aug. 1870 at Hancock, Delaware Co., New York.[8] She and Albert appeared on the census of 4 June 1880 at Farmington, Tioga Co., Pennsylvania. [9]

Louisa died on 27 June 1903 at Farmington Township, Tioga Co., Pennsylvania, at age 86 at the home of Alva Baxter. Her grandson Herman noted in his diary.

Grandma Smith died this A. M. at 7 o'clock at Alva Baxter's home she was 86 years old.[2] (Alva Baxter was a first cousin of Albert Smith.)

She was buried at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Farmington Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.[10]
