  • 1745: Amelia County, Virginia: A Sarah Miller marries a Gideon Marr (a John Woodson is surety) on 9/4/1745 from: http://nyvagenealogy.homestead.com/VirginiaMarriageRecords.html Sarah was a given name used on several occasions in the late 1600's and 1700's by the branch of my Miller's in Isle of Wight County, VA. The name Sarah was used due to Edward Miller's (b- Abt. 1644 likely in York or New Kent Co., VA; son of James Miller b- Abt. 1610 in Europe) wife's name: Sarah Smith/Smyth who was the daughter of Nicholas Smyth- who represented Isle of Wight Co. in the Virginia House of Burgesses. Also my Isle of Wight Co. Miller branch often associated with the Woodson family in Isle of Wight Co. (John Woodson was surety for Sarah's marriage). Sarah could be the daughter of Edward Miller-III in Isle of Wight Co. or the daughter of another male Miller in Isle of Wight Co. If this is the case, Sara would be the 1st documented Miller from my family in Amelia Co. (which included Prince Edward and Nottoway Co. in 1745).
