Penelope Perrot was the only daughter of Thomas Perrot and his wife,Dorothy Devereux [1] and was probably named for Dorothy's sister, Penelope Devereux. Her father died in 1594 and in indecent haste her mother, Dorothy married Henry Percy, Earl of Northumberland.
By a settlement dated 13 August 1605 Penelope married Sir William Lower, son of Thomas Lower and his wife, Johanna Reskimer. She bore him two sons, who both died young, and a daughter before his death in April 1615. His inquisition post mortem found their daughter to be his heir but then it became clear that Penelope was with child. William's posthumous son, Thomas, was born in November requiring another inquisition. "Penelope successfully secured the administration of both her husband’s estate and her son’s wardship." [2]
In 1619 Penelope married Sir Robert Naughton, son of Henry Naunton and his wife, Elizabeth Ashby. Robert and Penelope had a son, who died young, and a daughter. Robert died on 27 March 1635. [3]
Penelope died before October 1655 [4] and was buried at St Clement Danes, Westminster. [5]
