Biography

Jedediah Philbrick was born to Thomas and Mehitabel Philbrick August 9, 1700 in Kingston, New Hampshire.[1]

Jedediah married Mary Tayler (sic) August 25, 1721 in New Hampshire.[2][3][4]

Jedediah was a prominent man of business in Kingston. He was Justice of the Peace, Town Clerk, Captain of the town, a representative to the Legislature, and Deacon of the church.[5] Jedediah was designated in the Journal of the House as Esquire Philbrick.[6]

Jedediah and Mary had the following known children born in Kingston, New Hampshire:[5]

  1. Jeremiah Jr., b February 2, 1722; m Mary Stevens September 20, 1744; d March 8, 1754, leaving 4 children; his widow married Israel Dimon March 4, 1756
  2. Hannah, b February 6, 1724; m Humphrey Hook November 24, 1747
  3. Thomas, b January 1726; d September 1730
  4. Benjamin, b 1728; d 1730
  5. Thomas, 2nd, b 1730; d 1735
  6. Boniman, b 1734; d 1735
  7. Thomas 3rd, b 1738; d 1739
  8. Samuel, b February 11, 1739; m Sarah Sanborn February 9, 1767; d April 4, 1779
  9. Jedediah, b 1742; d December 1743
  10. Joseph, b November 4, 1748; bapt November 6, 1748; m Mehitable Philbrick, b April 12, 1751; Joseph d August 10, 1827. He was left as an orphan at 5 years old. Despite having only had 4 days of schooling, he became an intelligent citizen, and was elected representative to the Legislature nine times.

Jedediah Philbrick, Esq., died March 20, 1754, in Kingston, New Hampshire.[7]
