Olive was born probably about 1716 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia.
She was the daughter of Thomas Pitman and Elizabeth Lancaster, being mentioned by name in the will of Thomas in 1730.
She died before 1759 in Edgecombe or Halifax County, North Carolina(source needed).
The is a vague possibility that there were 2 Olive Pitmans. But unlikely with the same birth date!. Which ever way they didn't both marry Elias Fort. They have been merged in an effort to give clarity.
Olive's father has previously been indicated as Thomas II, III, or IV (2nd-4th generation Thomas, after Captain Thomas Pitman). It is a chore to separate out the facts for these three generations with the same given name.
The Pitmans of Isle of Wight County or Surry County, even though there are several generations of Thomas, can be sussed based on tax and court records. There are two wills that help connect the dots as well = Thomas' will in 1730 and her grandfather's will (Robert Lancaster/Lanquishear). The latter will does not name Olive, perhaps because she was still quite young, but it does name three of Olive's siblings. The parents of Olive born in Isle of Wight are demonstrably Thomas Pitman m. Elizabeth Lancaster.
More research is needed to show that she is the wife of Elias Fort. Elias did have a wife named Olive.
