Biography

Cullen Pope was born circa 1765, in Halifax county, North Carolina, a son of Jesse Pope and Mary Fort. Cullen's father was a soldier in the American Revolutionary War and Daughters of the American Revolution Ancestor #: A090747. Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of Cullen Pope, who married Mary Trippe. ^[1]

Collen's father was born circa 1730, in Chowan Precinct, North Carolina and died before June 5, 1820, in Hancock county, Georgia. The Will of Jesse Pope was written in 1818 and proved on June 5, 1820, in Hancock county, Georgia. The legatees named in the will are: sons, JESSE M.K. POPE; COLLIN POPE; HENRY POPE, SAMUEL POPE AND JOHN POPE; daughters, MARY DENTON, ANN LONG, ----- TRIPPE; and granddaughters: MARY WRAVER; FRANCIS GODWIN. ^[2]
