One of the unnamed wives of Thomas Dyke of Pepenbury, Kent in Berry's "Sussex Families".[1]
1590: Died aged 44-45 in England.
The middle name Gray is mysterious, it prob. is supposed to be the surname of an unnamed husband.
Her former father, Henry Radcliffe, 2nd Earl of Sussex m. twice. 1st to Elizabeth Howard who d. 18 Sep 1537. They had 3 children, Thomas 3rd Earl of Sussex, Henry 4th Earl of Sussex and Frances Ratcliffe (dsp). He m. (2) 21 Nov 1538 Anne Calthorp. [2][3]
If she was born in 1545, its not possible for her to be the da. of Elizabeth Howard, her mother has been removed.
Her supposed husband, Thomas Dykes, is listed as being from Pepenbury, Kent, which more correctly is the Manor of Peppenbury Magna or Parva, in Pembury, Kent. The Lord of the Manor during his lifetime was Sir William Wybarne, or his son John Wybarne, esq. Thomas was prob. a poor copyholder farmer not a gentleman. The legitimate da. of an Earl would not marry a peasant with no title or property. [4]
