N.B. I am removing Daniel Scott and Ann Randolph Scott as the parents of Daniel Scott as their parentage has been questioned and I do not find a source to support it. (Patrica Prickett Hickin, 18 April 2020.)
Ann Randolph was born in 1735 [citation needed] in Dungeness, Henrico County, Virginia, the eighth of nine known children and the fifth of six daughters [citation needed] of Isham and Jane Lilburne Susan Rogers Randolph.
When she was just sixteen, she married on 28 Nov 1751 in Powhatan County, Virginia to Daniel Scott. [1] [2]
They are said to have had no issue of the marriage, and alternatively said to have had one child, Daniel. [citation needed]
After the death of her husband, Daniel Scott, she married in 1759 to John Pleasants. [3] [4] [5]
She was mentioned as "Ann Pleasants" in her mother's Will, written Dec 5th, 1760 and proved Jul 21st, 1761. [6]
Ann died in 1765, [citation needed] when she was about thirty years old, of unknown causes in Goochland County, Virginia.
The lack of more authoritative sources regarding Ann Randolph's children is concerning, especially in view of the fact that there are Randolph family genealogies that make contrary claims. According to one, Anne Randolph had three husbands and, while the first was Daniel Scott, with him she "had no children". [9] (The same is asserted in a book [10] on the PAGE family.)
Another expressly states that Daniel Scott died without issue ("d. s. p."). [11]
Others report the marriage to Daniel Scott and list no children born to that union. [12] [13]
Citing the PAGE book, Wikipedia makes Ann the mother of Governor James Pleasants, implying that she was living in 1769. As does Stanard ...
However, more authoritative sources are ominously silent on Gov. Pleasants' parentage
PAGE and others probably got the marriages from Slaughter and/or Stanard. But the Robert Isham Randolph book names the parents of the two Pleasants husbands, and therefore would seem to be based on additional evidence. It also names the children of the two husbands (which tells us nothing about who their mother was, but is relevant here if this Ann was in fact their mother):
This information appears not to fit well with other sources. Note the 2nd husband, if the son of those parents, would have been a much older man. But other sources don't mention a Jonathan. Some people equate him with their son John; but John is said to have married 3 other women, not Ann Randolph. Susannah Woodson's son James is also credited with a different wife.
The Wassell Randolph book has a list of sources for Ann Randolph. These are all secondary and tertiary sources. The Douglas Register, the mother's Will and the marriage bonds are the only primary sources cited.

The Cocke article makes Gov. Pleasants' mother the widow of Isham Randolph, which seems impossible. Nobody mentions any children of the Scott marriage, with or without sources.
