Biography

Nimrod Peter Randolph was born 30 March 1786, in Caswell County, North Carolina.[citation needed]

Nimrod is named in his father James Randolph Sr's Will executed 15 June 1797 in Caswell County, North Carolina.[1]

Nimron, age 85, passed away 27 May 1874, in Pulaski County, Kentucky. His death record lists him as age 85, farmer, widowed, born in Virginia, and died of old age.[2] His parents are listed as J. Randolph and Polly Randolph.

He was buried in Ansel Cemetery, Pulaski County, Kentucky or Mt. Hope Cemetery, Pulaski County, Kentucky with no stone found.

Vital Statistics

Birth
Nimrod is not yet of age when his father executes his Will.[1] His birth date is therefore estimated as, (15 June 1797 - under 21 years) = after 15 June 1776.

His birth date is estimated from his death record[2] as, (27 May 1874 - 85 years) = about 1789.

His death record lists him as alternatively being born in Virginia.[2]

Research Notes

  • The 1860 US Census does list a "Matilda Phelps, age 17" as living with the then "70" year old Nimrod. Given her age this could not be the same Matilda Phelps that married Nimrod Randol ten years earlier.

I propose deleting marriage to Margaret Peggy Dye, on 16 Mar 1850 in Pulaski County, Kentucky. The 1860 US Census lists a "Matilda Phelps, age 17" as living with the then "70" year old Nimrod. There is no source to verify this marriage.

Please respond within 3 days with a verifying source.

Hi Judith,

I don't know when the entry was made or who placed it but I think I found where the error came from and for documentation purposes moved it down into the Research Notes section of the profile.

Pete and [Private] are 24th cousins

Nimrod Peter Randolph (1786-1874) and Cherie (Randolph) Freeman (2736) are both descendants of Agnorie (Penthièvre) de Dinham (abt.1092-abt.1164).

Please post the source documenting this ancestor!

Randolph-4964 and Randolph-600 appear to represent the same person because: They are the same person. I just had the wrong birth date.
Need source for marriage to Eleanor Sears

re. incorrect marriage to Matilda Phelps, she appears to be daughter of Nimrod's daughter Mary Phelps-2546, m. Obediah Phelps, and d. 1847 when Matilda was 4 years old (1860 Census lists her as 17).

The parents' confirmed with DNA relationship status indicators were removed because the DNA confirmations are not cited (DB errors 213 & 313).

Please see this article for more information and guidance on how to provide the proper source documentation when confirming genealogy with DNA on WikiTree.

Thank you.

P.S., As it states in the Help for Confirmed with DNA:

"If there isn't a proper source citation the "Confirmed with DNA" relationship status should be removed (by you or another member)."

Randolph-1473 and Randolph-600 appear to represent the same person because: Nimrod Randolph (Randolph-1473) was left over after a merge of James Randolph Sr profiles. Needs to be merged with Randolph-600 rather than deleted (which leaves a disconnected profile). Thanks.
