Biography

Note: There is serious doubt Jane Randle was a daughter of William and Mary Randolph. She does not appear in Douglas Richardson's Royal Ancestry.

Jane was possibly born on 21 Feb 1694 in Hinton, Berkshire, England to parents Thomas Randolph and Jane ___. (England Select Births and Christenings) It has been thought that Jane is possibly the child of William Randolph and Mary Isham.

"Richard's wife Jane is often identified as Jane RANDLE or RANDOLPH. According to an unpublished manuscript at the North Carolina Archives by Cecil E. Burney, dated Mar. 1, 1967, "While it has not been established, some genealogists believed that Mrs. Richard Cheek had been a Randolph of Virginia and that she named [her son Randolph] for her family." Researcher Larry Cates thinks Jane might have been a daughter of John Randle, Sr. of New Kent County, VA, and a sister of Josiah and John Randle of King William County. John Randle may be the person who was imported by Thomas Glascock (Glasscock) for land on the north side of the Rappahannock on Morattico Creek prior to 1662. There is one entry for his daughter Elizabeth, recorded in St. Peter’s Parish (New Kent, James City Co., VA), who was baptized June 13, 1686. There is also an Alexander RANDLE (Randol, Randall) who lived on the Tar River near the Cheeks in North Carolina."[1]

Jane Randolph married first Richard Cheek in 1720 in Spotsylvania, Virginia. Children: Randolph, Richard, Elizabeth, Jane, Robert Isaiah, Ann, William, James, John. After Richard died in 1743 she married second Peter Jefferson in 1739 in Virginia. She died on 30 Apr 1745 in Beaufort, North Carolina.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jane by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jane:

How Could Jane Randolph Cheek have married Peter Jefferson 1739 when Richard Cheek died in 1743. I am not saying she didn’t marry Peter Jefferson but I think the dates are wrong.
I still haven't figured out how to add my GED to the list on the side of pages on wikitree but she is supposed to be my 9th ggma

Jane's parents appear to be incorrect: https://books.google.com/books?id=cOBBAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA247#v=onepage&q=william%20randolph&f=false. Her birth location is inconsitent with all of her other siblings. There were some "Janes" who married into the Randolph family. But she still does not appear to be one of those.
Randolph-209 and Randolph-1570 appear to represent the same person because: Same name - same birth date

These two profiles should be merged in spite of the discussion about whether or not she belongs in this family.

Jane Randel/Randle does not appear to be a part of the Randolph family. She is not mentioned in Richardson's Royal Ancestry, Vol. IV, page 458.
Is there any evidence is she the daughter of William Randolph? What does Magna Carta Ancestry: A Study in Colonial and Medieval Families say about Jane?
