Marie Elizabeth Rapin was born on 6 Jun 1712 and was baptized the same day at Saint-Francois-Xavier de Batiscan, Canada, Nouvelle-France.[1] She was the daughter of Jean Baptiste Rapin and Marie Catherine Janson.
Marriage
Jean Baptiste Argentecour dit Drouillard, age 22, and Elisabeth Rapin, age 19, were married on 5 Feb 1731 at Saintes-Agnes de Lachine, Canada, Nouvelle-France.[2][3]
[4] Jean died in 1754.
Second Marriage>br> Joseph Guignard dit St-Etienne and Elisabeth Rapin, widow of Jean Baptiste Drouillard, were married on 12 Feb 1756 at Sainte-Anne de Detroit, Pays d'en Haute, Nouvelle-France.[5]
Death and Burial
Elisabeth Rapin, widow of Joseph St-Etienne, died on 6 May 1787 in Petite Côte, Province de Québec, and was buried on 8 May 1787 at Assumption Church, Church of the Hurons, Petite Côte.[6] Her death was years before the establishment of Essex County, or the city of Windsor. By 1790, this area on the Ontario side of Le Detroit Erie was known as le Côte de Misere due to the difficulty of farming as the sandy soil lost it fertility.[7]
