Notes

Note N56Obituary:
?Mary Melvina Rector was born in Macomb Co., Ill, Mar 27, 1866. She moved with her parents to Iowa when she was 9 years of age, where she lived to womanhood. She was united in marriage to George W. Snodgrass Nov. 2, 1882. They came to Reno Co, Kansas the following year in April 1883, where they lived continuously for 46 years, with the exception of two years spent in Missouri, retiring from the farm eleven years ago. They spent 23 years in Abbyville, then moved to Hutchinson where they have made their home since that time. She leaves to mourn her husband and six children, three boys and three girls. Roy Snodgrass of Nickerson, Walter Snodgrass and Burt Snodgrass both of Abbyville, Mrs. Allie McGough of Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Ecil Banz of Elkhart, Kan and Mrs. Iva Bookless of Hutchinson, Kan.; 22 grandchildren, 4 sisters, Mrs. E. Scott of Mt. Ayr, Iowa, Mrs. Lena Winder of Abbyville, Kan., Mrs. Harriet Havercroft and Mrs. Anna Cooper both of Hutchinson, Kan.; and a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Two sons, Charles E. and Wallace M. died in infancy. Her father and mother and three brothers have preceded her to the better world. Mrs. Snodgrass joined the Evangelical Church more than thirty years ago of which church she is still a member. She was a kind and dutiful wife, a loving mother and a true friend to all, especially to the homeless and needy. Her sunny disposition won and held the love of all she met. She often expressed the thought that she was ready to go.?
