John was born in 1777. He is the son of Frederick Rector and Elizabeth Conner. He passed away in 1805.[1]

Notes for John Rector

  • At one time lived at Kaskaskia, Ill. He was one of the first settlers there. John Rector was a lawyer. He was shown as no. 469 in a list of officers in Illinois Regiment under General George Roger Clark. who was entitled for bounty land for three years service and hadn't received land from the Revolutionary services. A lone Shawnee Indian killed the surveyor of Gallatin Co, John Rector, while his horse was drinking at Rector Creek, four miles north of Edorado, Ill. May 25 1805
