Biography
Josiah was born about 1732 / 1733 probably in Norwalk, Connecticut. He was the son of John and Desire Tuttle. [1] His father john was son of Thomas, whose father was John. [1][2][3]
Josiah married Sybil Baldwin, (or Belding) on Dec 20, 1752. [4][3][5][6]
Since Josiah had a son Josiah, it is difficult to know which Josiah is being referenced in each of these American Revolution items. :
Josiah was a Private, serving with Captain Wilcox's Company in the American Revolution War on 21 February 1778, having served 3 years. His residence was listed as Windham. [8]
Based on the SAR submission of his gggg grandson, Josiah was a Private soldier in Col Hinman's Company from Apr-May 1775. He was taken prisoner near Montreal in 1775 with Ethan Allen's party at the battle of Ticonderoga and died later of Camp Fever.[2][9] DAR also gives him credit for service in Col. Hinman's Regiment. See his DAR Ancestor # A094571.[10]
