Cathrina was born about 1691 as the sixth child of Albertus Philipzen Ringo and Jannetje Stoutenburg. Her father was a supporter of Jacob Leisler (Leisler Rebellion).[1] After Leisler's execution in 1690, "Many of Leisler's followers fled the city after his execution. On May 19, 1690 Governor Sloughter issued a proclamation of amnesty for all except about 20 named individuals."[2]

It is not known if Albertus and his family fled the city, however he does not appear in the records during this time and the Ringos' sixth child, Cathrina, has no baptism is shown for her unlike the rest of his children. Cathrina was likely born somewhere outside the city during this time.

Cathrina married Elisha Bird before 1717 when their son Jacobus was baptized. There is no marriage record for Cathrina and Elisha and no baptism records have been found for additional children.

Other children of Cathrina and Elisha:[3]

  • Albertis Bird, born about 08 Apr 1719; died Feb 1772, Hunterdon County, NJ.
  • Effie Bird, born about 1720; died 1789.
  • Rebecca Bird, born about 1720, New Jersey; died 1789; married REUBEN POWNAL, Bucks County, PA; born 1718; died 1784.
  • Elisha Bird, born 1721, Hunterdon County, NJ; died 27 Dec 1821, Kingwood Township., Hunterdon County, NJ.
