Jabez Rockwell Jr. is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A097889.

Jabez Rockwell, Jr., born Ridgefield on July 1, 1740; Married, first, Elizabeth Sperry. (445) She died, but the date not found. He married on October 11, 1778, second, at Ridgebury, by Rev. Samuel Camp, Phebe Bedicut, and a record is found in south Salem Presbyterian church that Jabez Rockwell married Sarah Rundle in 1784; probably not the same Jabez. They settled in Butternuts, Otsego County, N.Y., where he died in 1837. The public records in Danbury furnish account of his service in the Revolutionary War, too lengthy for introduction here, further than to say he enlisted May 9, 1775, in 7th Company, 6th Regiment, Col. Sammuel H. Parsons, and was discharged Nov. 13, 1775.

The records of the probate court at Danbury appointed Keziah Rockwell administratrix of the estate of his father, Jabez Rockwell, Sr., deceased, under date Aug. 29 1757; and Feb. 6, 1758, the records say that Jabez Rockwell, the son of Jabez Rockwell, being of lawful age to choose a guardian, chose Jonah Foster, and his brother Josiah chose Recompense Thomas, of Ridgebury, as his guardian.[1]

Soon after the burning of Danbury in 1777, Jabez Rockwell, Jr., removed to Butternuts, Otsego County, N.Y., where many of his relatives followed and settled in the vicinity and became numerous. He subsequently married, third, Elizabeth Andrus, and settled in Guilford, N.Y. the old family bible of Jabez Rockwell Jr., was still in the possession of his descendants in 1894.
