Biography

GrGrandfather of Thomas Jefferson 3rd US President

The parents of Charles Rogers have yet to be discovered.[1] See more research below.

On January 29, 1698, they had a daughter, Jane Lilburne Rogers.

Research Notes

Charles Rogers was baptized on June 15, 1660 at St. Botolph, Aldgate, London, England. On August 19, 1697, at All Saints in Edmonton, Middlesex, England, he married Jane Lilburne b: 1665 in Co. Durham, England.[2]

Charles Rogers died in London, England, around 1704. His wife survived his passing. She died in England in 1724.[3]

Research Notes on Parents

  • Many trees on the internet indicate Thomas Rogers and Elizabeth Snow.[4] This would make his birth place near Somerset, England.
  • The birth shown on the profile indicates that his parents would have been Alexander and Ann[5] and his birth would have been London, England.
  • Another choice with a date of 1662 would make his parents Francis and Sarah[6], also with a birthplace of London.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Charles by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Charles:

Take a look at the research notes I have added. I do not think we have conclusively figured out "which" Charles Rogers married Jane.

I think people are guessing, as I had a lot of hints come up on my Ancestry tree that the parents are Thomas Rogers and Elizabeth Snow. However, they were both born and died in colonial America (Massachusetts); whereas, Charles Rogers was born and died in England. It's unfortunate that there are no good sources to go by.

This profile never should have been created and especially not with the parents assigned with NO sources and no genealogical foundation. It should be merged into the existing profile for Charles Rogers, b: 1660 in London, England.

I have been researching Charles Rogers for about 2 weeks now, I am at a sticking point, when I research from my husband I come to Charles Rogers whose father is Joseph Rogers and mother Elizabeth Snow, however, Researching them they have no son named Charles, but do have a son named Nathaniel, whose birth and death date match, but I have not found the proper documents to know if the name was Charles might have been a middle name, or if Nathaniel was the middle name, If anyone knows the answer please e-mail me,or go ahead and change the information and please for all of us that can't find the information, include a copy of the documents or the web address were we can find it. I don't so much care who actually changes the information, but I am obsessed with trying to find the knowledge that does not matter to some.
