Orme or Orm is chiefly notable as the father of Robert, who is often described as Robert Ormson in current documents. ^[1]

His estimated date of birth is about 1100.

He married Gunilda daughter of Gospatrick. ^[1]

Tradition is that he was Sheriff of Appleby, Westmorland in 1174. ^[1]

The source referred to in this profile suggests that the family.s involvement with the village or settlement of Rosgill may have come after Orm. It is convenient to retain the "Rosgill" surname for these purposes, but it is most unlikely that he would have recognised the name himself.
