Biography

Mary Ellen Rowley was born 1756-7, Kent, Litchfield, Connecticut, daughter of Jonathan Rowley and Elizabeth Hopkins.

She married 24 Mar 1774 John Mott in New Canaan, Columbia, New York and they had the following known children:

  1. Lydia d. 1855
  2. Gideon (1777-1837)
  3. Mary b. 9 May 1777
  4. Henry Hopkins b. 1786
  5. Freeman Hopkins b. 1792

Mary Mott received a pension for her husband's Revolutionary Army service, paid from Sept. 1831 until her death on July 9, 1840 in Miller, Lawrence, Ohio.[1]
