William Russell (abt. 1680 - abt. 1756)

I am really not seeing that these are the same person. This profile has almost no information on this William Russell, whereas the other William Russell has an entirely different set of children. There's no reason to think that they're the same person, but I will look at the children carefully and make sure that they aren't one sibling group. I know that, in the past the Russell children who married the Bean children were shown as children of William "The Ranger" Russell, but the current thinking is that he is not the correct William. I do run the William Russell of Colonial Virginia project and I will do my due diligence, but unless you or someone else provides something compelling to show that these are the same individual, I will probably not approve it. I expect that I will find that the two groups of children could not all be siblings because of a problem two of them being born too closely together, but I will check it out and if there's no conflict I will post another reply. I am not dead-set against the merger, I just don't think they're the same person so I need more info before making a decision to merge.

Russell-3166 and Russell-2178 do not represent the same person because: Two separate individuals with separate children, spouses, etc. They just have the same first and last name, but so do over 30 other men in colonial Virginia.
