Elizabeth Salyer book "The Salyer Family". Zachariah was taken to court for non-payment of debts in Chowan County and left the county prior to 1755. He had 6 months to pay and did not. He was sentenced to 6 months in prison but there is no record of his serving. He may have left because of it. He lived on the sloop Peggy and was a cordwainer or shoemaker by trade.
