Anna Schoonover was born about 1773 in Augusta County, Virginia. In 1776 that area became part of Monongalia County, Virginia. Eight years later, in 1784, the same area became part of the new county of Harrison. Then was renamed again in 1787 when Harrison County was divided and that area became part of Randolph County. It is possible that the family stayed on the same property with the address going through numerous changes.
Anna was a daughter of Benjamin Schoonover and Mary Hand Schoonover. She married Thomas Wilmoth on April 19, 1798 in Randolph County. Thomas, a son of Thomas Jr. and Agnes
Wilmoth, was born in 1766 in the area later known as Randolph County and died November 20, 1833.
