Excerpt from memoir of Gerald E. Scott:

Theodore married Clara Richardson on September 25, 1860 in Oak Bay. There were strong ties to the Young homestead of Oakhaven, Clara‘s mother‘s home. No records of the marriage can be found. They lived on the farm at Tower Hill all their married lives and had seven children. There are no known land transactions and the farm property stayed the same as Samuel had established it.

I have heard that Theodore was a man who liked a nice team of horses, and fancy harness and carriages. I have also heard that he was not a strong family man in his own way, and that if he went to pick up his children at school he couldn’t recognize which ones were his own, no doubt an exaggeration.

He was apparently injured in a woods accident, I have heard that he was struck in the stomach by a broken chain. This probably caused internal injuries that went untreated and may have led to his early death in 1887 at the age of 50 years and eleven months.

Theodore’s hand written will was written on February 6, 1887 according to Clara’s sworn probate record, leaving all property along with one horse and twelve cattle to Clara. The value of the land was $600. and the livestock value was $200. The will was signed in a shaky hand by Theodore, witnessed by Horton B. Heatherington and Daniel L. Stewart, J. P. Clara and her father Levi Richardson were named as executors. On the next day Theodore died.

In October, 1891 the will was probated. According to these records Walter was living in Astoria, Oregon at that time. The farm must have been maintained by the brothers Samuel and Frank, along with Clara and the daughters.
