Biography

European Aristocracy
Alice Scrope was a member of the aristocracy in England.

Alice le Scrope (d. after 1490), was the da. of Thomas le Scrope, 5th Baron Scrope of Masham and Elizabeth de Greystock. She mar. after 7 Sep 1472 Sir James Strangways, of West Harlsey, co. York (b. c. 1460; d. 1521), 1st son and heir of Sir Richard Strangways, of West Harlsey, co. York, by his wife Lady Elizabeth Neville, 2nd dau. and cohrss. of William [Neville], 1st Earl of Kent.[1]

Research notes

Alice was one of three eventual coheirs of her father in the Barony Scrope of Masham. Her husband was also a coheir by his mother of the Barony of Fauconberg and his grandmother the Barony of Darcy. She was living in 1490, and his IPM was 4 Nov 1521, and their two da. were eventually their coheirs in all three titles.
