Biography

John Seawright was involved in the "Wild, Wild West," part of the westward expansion of the United States. Join the Wild Wild West Project.

He came from a wealthy family in South Carolina, planters and slave owners. He made his way from South Carolina to Texas sometime before 1880, as that year's census lists him as farming in Falls, Texas, at the age of 23, living with the family of T.L. Reed. He married Susie Louise Tyndell (1870-1906) in Tarrant Couny, Texas on November 19, 1885, and Susie and Frank had ten children:

  1. John Wesley William "Connie" Seawright (1887-1937)
  2. William Oscar Seawright (1889-1918)
  3. Lucinda Seawright (1891-1894)
  4. Homer Seawright (1893-1894)
  5. Lena M. Seawright (1895-1925)
  6. Clifford Duncan Seawright (1897-1950)
  7. Clara Myrtis Seawright (1899-1981)
  8. Charles Hugh Seawright (1902-1955)
  9. Elinor Lou "Nannie" Seawright (1902-1924)
  10. Frank Lloyd "Ted" Seawright (1905-1918)

Susie passed away in 1906, and Frank eventually went to live with his son, Charlie, in Justice Precinct 6 in Bosque County, Texas. He died in 1940 and is buried at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Waco, Texas.
