Biography

Edward was born in about 1586. He was the son of Edward Seymour and Honora Rogers.
On 1st July 1609, he married Anne Sackville, daughter of Robert, Earl of Dorset at Westminster. [1]
His father was styled or known as Lord Beauchamp and it appears that following his father's death in 1612, Edward also used this title, with his wife using the honorific Lady Beauchamp
Edward's sister in law Lady Clifford notes in her diaries that they had a daughter,Anne but she died a short time after her father's death
The 29th in the morning died my sister Beauchamp’s daughter Mrs Anne Seymour in the same house her father died five months before. The child was opened, it having a corrupt body, so it was put in lead and the day following Legge brought it to Knole which day was my birthday I, being now 29 years old.
February 1619 ( ]1619 or 1619/20?)
The lst carried my Lord Beauchamp’s child from Knole where it had stood in his chamber to Withyham where it was buried in the vault so that now there was an end of the issue of that marriage which was concluded presently after mine.

Edward predeceased his grandfather the Earl of Hertford and according to the above source died would have died in about September 1619 (or 1618) [2] However another work that makes use of this diary suggests that Lady Clifford wrote that the child's fathers death occurred 2 months before . [3] And Fry's transcription/translation of the Inquistion post mortem on his grandfather states that he died on 20th Jan 1620 which would have been only a month before the child's death. [4]
