This person was created on 08 April 2011 through the import of HOWE(1).ged. Additional information added by her grandson, Joseph (born after her death)as culled from various sorces including her obit in the June 22, 1944 Miltonvale Record. Mrs. Gilead H. Bailey had suffered from a heart ailment for a number of years and about a week ago suffered a severe heart attack from which she failed to recover, passing away quietly Monday noon about 12:30. Fannie (Dott) Bailey, whose parents were John W. and Francessa Shay was born October 27, 1881 on the orginal John W. Shay homestead, 3.5 miles southwest of Miltonvale and passed away at her home in Miltonvale June 19, 1944 at the age of 62 years 7 months and 22 days. She received her education in the Miltonvale public schools. She became a member of the Christian church of Miltonvale in girlhood and was active in its interests. She enjoyed working with the boys and girls and was a Sunday school teacher a number of years. She was also active in the Methodist church while her health permitted. She was affiliated with P.E.O. Sisterhood as a member of Chapter BR, Miltonvale. She was married to Gilead H. Bailey on September 20 , 1905. Immediately after their marriage, they moved to Miltonvale which has since been their home. She was the mother of two sons, John M. and Wayne G. both of Miltonvale. She made her home the dearest place to her family. To know her was to love her and recognize those qualities of kindness and devotion which make up the character of true womanhood and motherhood. The finest tribute to Mrs. Bailey is written in the hearts of her family and friends. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband and two sons; one grandson, John Philip Bailey, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. John M. Bailey; four brothers, John, Jesse, George and James Shay. The funeral service was held in the christian church of Miltonvale Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock conducted by WH Robb of Colby, Ks. Bearers were Art Hauck, Earl Fessenden, T.H. Flear, W.I. Lassey, Arthur Lavoie, Cliff Horn. Singers were Mr. and Mrs George H. Palmer, Mrs L.W. Neaderhiser and C.L. Williams with Miss Rosalee Carry at the piano. Mrs. Art Hauck sang a solo. Burial was made in the Miltonvale cemetery.
