Research Notes

David's profile was originally linked to John Armistead Shelton as his father. Based on the "We Cousins" reference, I have changed his father to Thomas Shelton. This seems consistent with David and Peter, another son of Thomas, sharing the same Y-STR_Group_3 DNA type (Y-DNA Haplotype R-U106).

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with David by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with David:

David's profile has once again been incorrectly linked to John Shelton (abt.1705-1777) as his father. Whitaker's book "A history of the Shelton family of England and America" and the follow-up article in W&MQ are known to be filled with errors and falsehoods. "We Cousins" showed that his father was Thomas. Furthermore, the Shelton Y-DNA project shows that descendants of David are in the "New Kent" line, not "Rural Plains" Hanover line.
