Martin Slattery shares a gravestone at Saint Peters Cemetery, Rosendale, Ulster County, New York, with wife Margaret and son Thomas, carved no earlier than 1908. The stone is carved with his death date being 1894, and a death date of 8 April 1894 has been used by researchers.[2] However, he seems to match a news item in the Middletown Daily Argus: "Martin Slattery, a quarryman, was killed near Kingston, yesterday, by a rock falling on him. He leaves a widow and six children, the oldest only eleven years of age."[3] His widow Margaret was named administratrix of his estate in Ulster County, New York, with the administrator's bond filed on 28 March 1895.[4]
