John, the son of Christopher & Martha Smith, was born on "19 of the 9 mo." [1655] in Dedham, (then) Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[1]
He married Abigail Day in Dedham on 21 October 1677.[2]
John died on 7 October 1722 and was buried at Needham Cemetery, Needham, (then) Suffolk County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. His memorial has extensive biographical material and links to those of family members.[3]
On 26 Sept 1722, "John Smith Senr. of Needham, in the County of Suffolk and the province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England husbandman," made his will, which was proved 05 November 1722. He made bequests to his wife Abigail Smith, sons John, Christopher, Jonathan, Moses, Joshua, Caleb, Aaron and Samuel, daughter Abigail Brewer, and grandson Ezra Smith. He named as his executors son Aaron and Samuel.[4]
