Marriage and Issue

Unsourced and Unproven...

m. (disputed) Palatina de Troyes.[citation needed][2][1] Issue:

Weis (1992), says evidence suggests he's the father of Bodegeisel II (rather than Bodegeisel I (Gondolfus' brother). Weis calls him, "almost certainly father of Bodegeisel II," rather than Bodegeisel I as in earlier editions. See NEHGR 101:110-111. He was Bishop at Tongres.

Religion

  • Saint consecrated 599.

Wikipedia: Gondulph of Maastricht[citation needed][1]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 Note that Wikipedia's claim (for wife and son) is uncited, and the Catholic encyclopedia makes no mention of any family members. In addition, Palatina's Wikipedia page (retrieved 20 Oct 2015), is just a stub with questionable secondary sources.[1] However, our page for Bodegisal, states that it's Settipani (n.d.), whose reconstruction ... makes Bodegisal II, a son of the bishop. There's no mention of a mother. That said, there's other "new" theories about Bodegisal's father, as well as his identity... which include the idea that he may be a son of, Mummolin.... and therefore, Gondulphus' nephew. Traditionally, Bodegisal II, is the son of Bodegisal I.
  2. Palatina, is cited as the wife of Bodegiselus, an Austrasian dux. She's the daughter of Gallomagnus, Bishop of Troyes.[2]
