Biography

Asa "Hamric" and Sarah Starcher were married in Gilmer County, West Virginia, on 2 Jan 1851. The ceremony was performed by Caleb T. Hill.[1] based on US Census and other records, Sarah and Asa had at least the following children:

  • Adam Hamrick, b. ca. 1852
  • Henry Hamrick, b. ca. 1853
  • Phebe Hamrick, b. ca. 1858
  • Joseph F Hamrick, b. ca. 1861
  • Francis Hamrick, b. ca. 1863

In 1850, Sally Starcher, 20, lived with her parents, Adam and Phebe Starcher, and 8 brothers and sisters in District 17, Gilmer, Virginia.[2]

In 1870, Sarah Hamrick lived in Lee Township, Calhoun County, West Virginia, with Ase Hamrick, a farmer, and 5 children.[3]

In 1880, Sarah Hambrick, a 61 year old widow, lived in Lee District, Calhoun County, West Virginia, with 4 children.[4]

Note that Sarah was earlier identified in error as wife of Asa Hamrick born 1818 in North Carolina.

Sarah is instead the wife of Asa Hamrick born 1825, son of Joseph W. Hamrick.
