Biography

Barnabas Stetson, son of John and Abigail (Hudson) Stetson, was born at Scituate, MA in July of 1682. He was baptized in the Second Church of Scituate on 16 Jul 1682.

In 1733, Mr. Gershom Stetson was granted the guardianship of Barnabas Stetson after his mother's death and was deemed unable to manage and improve his estate. His estate was valued and included bonds to him and cattle and a colt. ^[1]

According to Kindred Records, He was non compos mentis and died 27 Dec 1742. In the settlement of his father's estate, his cousin Gershom Stetson was appointed his guardian, but the estate was not divided until after the death of Barnabas in 1742 when it was divided between the only heirs, his sisters Abigail (Stetson) Studley and Honor Hunt ^[2]

Probate

Barnabas died intestate, and on 3 April 1743, Benoni Studley was granted the administration of his estate.^[3]

His inventory was recorded on 18 April 1743 in Plymouth.^[4]
