"William de Stourton (a) was living in 1325; in 1338 he was appointed with another to enquire into alleged thefts from Montacute Priory. He appears in Mar 1340/1 as the leading inhabitant of Stourton; and was still alive in 1343. He m. Joan (f). The date and place of his death are unknown. [Complete Peerage XII/1:300]
"(a) The Noble House of Stourton describes William as eldest surviving son and heir of Ralph de Stourton, relying only on the College of Arms pedigree.
"(f) Where it is set out an impeximus and confirmation by the Dean and Chapter of Wells of an appropriation made 18 Mar 1374 of a chantry for the souls of John de Stourton and Alice is wife, William de Stourton and Joan his wife (both deceased, the parents of John), his brethren and sisters, and Lettice and Alice his wives."
