Maternal great grandfather of Dwight Eisenhower 34th President of the United States.
Daniel Stover was originally thought to have been a grandson of Jacob Stover and Sarah Boone, the uncle and aunt of legendary Daniel Boone. However it has since been learned that Daniel Stover is the son of Daniel Stauffer and Eva Albrecht, immigrants of Germany.[1]
Additional Research needed
The Eisenhower Presidential Library has updated their genealogy to indicate that the "Original Stover" arrived in 1729. His son was Daniel, and his grandson was Daniel, the father of Simon. This theory agrees with the current Stover Family research listed under #4.
The Virginia death record indicates that he was born in Pennsylvania, FindaGrave says Virginia, no primary sources for birth date, nor place have been found.
For those with Ancestry.com, lots of bad data there, here is the index that indicates his parents, ( Daniel and Margaret) birth in Pennsylvania and death in Virginia Virginia, Deaths and Burials Index, 1853-1917
Additional research is being done by Stover family researcher, Roger Cubs, who believe that Daniel's father would be Daniel Stauffer born 1707, son of Daniel born 1685.[1]
In 1850, Daniel and his wife, Mary are living in Augusta Virginia, with their son Simon P Stover, his wife, Elizabeth; Daniel's birth is given as 1780.[2]
Daniel Stover Jr. was born on May 23, 1780 in Virginia. He passed away on January 25, 1865 in Mount Sidney, Augusta County, Virginia, and was buried in Mount Pisgah Church Cemetery. [3][4][2]
Per his Find a Grave memorial, he and his wife are parents of David (1811-1895), Daniel (1813-1902), Jacob Henry (1815-1877) and Simon (1822-1873).
