Biography

1776 Project
Private George Strout served with 2nd York County Regiment, Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolution.

George Strout was born in 1739. His parents were Elisha Strout and Alice "Elcy" (Smith) Strout.

He married Rebecca Freeman on 1 October 1762 in Falmouth, Maine[1].

George and Rebecca Strout had the following known children:

  • Lydia Strout, b. 6 Sep 1763, Gorham, ME., "Lydia, 1st child of George & Rebecca Strout". [2] ; m. 10 Mar 1784, Gorham, ME., George Smalley; d. 8 Feb 1841, Raymond, Cumberland, ME., age 77 yrs.
  • Samuel Strout, b. 13 Apr 1768, Gorham, Cumberland, ME. "Samual, 2nd child of George & Rebecca Strout" [2] ; m. Jerusha Emery (1768-1831) of Buxton, Cumberland county, ME. ; d. 13 Feb 1856, Otisfield, Oxford, ME., age 89 yrs.

George Strout was a Private in Capt. Isaac Parson's co., Col. Prime's regt. He enlisted 4 May 1780 and was discharged 17 Dec 1780 serving 7 mo. 14 days under Brig. General Wadsworth at the Eastward. [4]

George passed away on 20 April 1814 and is buried in Raymond Hill Cemetery in Raymond, Maine[5].
