Biography

Note

Note: Washington served in the Civil War with the 21st Ohio Infantry, Company B.

I have a picture of him that my grandfather, Virgil Coyle Benson ,used to tell about. He was a Civil war veteran. There are letters he sent home at BGSU in their civil war library. He and three other brothers fought in the civil war. One is buried at the Civil War Cemetery at Look Out Mountain, wounded at the Battle of Chicamauga. One of his brother's son is named William Tecumseh Sherman Swank.
