William's otherwise unsourced FindAGrave memorial [3] shows his place of birth as Rapidan, Culpeper County, Virginia; but the John Powell Taylor family is not known to have ever resided in Culpeper County. James Taylor I Descendants Association genealogist and other researchers have him born either in that part of Caroline County formed from King & Queen County where William's parents were known to reside; or in Orange County, where they migrated sometime in the 1730s.
Similarly, William's FindAGrave memorial shows his place of death as Townsville, Vance County, North Carolina; but the James Taylor I Descendants Association genealogist shows his place of death as Lynesville in that part of Mecklenburg County, Virginia that became Granville County, North Carolina, and then Vance County, North Carolina. Both sources agree that he was buried in Machpelah Cemetery.
23 Oct 1787, Granville Co., NC - The will of John Taylor names "my three brothers & two sisters now living, Edmund Taylor, William Taylor, Joseph Taylor, Isabella Hopkins, and Elizabeth Bullock..." [4]
