Samuel Tompkins was born in Little Compton, Newport, Rhode Island May 24, 1681.[1] He married Sarah Coe there on January 24, 1712. They has twelve children all recorded at Little Compton. He died in May 1760 at Little Compton.[2] His will was proved on June 3, 1760. He left "To son Joseph 40 pounds and he to be executor. to sons Gideon and Micah all my real estate in LC with buildings. to son Benjamin 5 pounds. To son William 50 pounds and the privilege of living in my house as long as he is single. To daughters Elizabeth and Abigail 30 pounds. To four grandchildren, children of my son John, deceased, 5 pounds each at the age of 21 for males and 18 for females..."[3]
