Biography

John Gibson Toney, son of Jesse and Amanda Toney, was born about 1838.[1][2]

John enlisted in Company A, Virginia 30th Sharp Shooter Battalion on 22 June 1861. He enlisted again on 27 June 1862. He was promoted to Full Color Sergeant on 31 Dec. 1862. [2]

He married Elizabeth Austin, daughter of Absdum and Racheal Austin, on 24 Nov. 1865 at Fayette County, Virginia.[1]

He died at Gauley Bridge, Fayette Co, West Virginia.[2]
