Elizabeth Tremain, daughter of John Tremain and Elizabeth Sitton,^[1] was born in 1756.

Spelling of the Surname

Various spellings of the surname appear to have been used within the family and in records of the family, including "Truman," Treman," "Tremain," "Treemin," and others.

Identity of Father

Some sources have erroneously identified the father of Elizabeth Treman as John Truman or Tremain (Tremain-7), son of Joseph Truman & Mary Shapley, born in New London, Connecticut on December 20, 1708. The father should be listed as John Tremain, son of Philip Tremain and Rebeckah Granger, born in Westfield, Massachusetts, on October 19, 1718.
