Elizabeth Trevor, was the only child and heir of Thomas Trevor, 2nd Baron Trevor of Bromham, and his wife, Elizabeth Burrell, and was perhaps born about 1715-1716, given her parent's married on 2 February 1713/14 and she married in 1732. She held the courtesy title of the Honourable Elizabeth Trevor, once her father succeeded to the Barony in 1730[1]
She married Charles Spencer, later 3rd Duke of Marlborough on 23 May 1732, at East Barnet. At that time he was the 5th Earl of Sunderland, the eldest surviving son of Charles Spencer, 3rd Earl of Sunderland, and his second wife, Lady Anne Churchill, the second daughter and co-heir of John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, and his wife Sarah Jennings.[2]Together, Elizabeth and Charles had seven children during their marriage.
Elizabeth passed away on 7 Oct 1761, in Oxfordshire, England.
Her husband's grandmother, Sarah Jennings Churchill, considered Elizabeth and Charles' marriage a misalliance and in a letter to her friend, Mrs. Strangeways Horner, said "I think it a very improper match for a man that might have had anybody, without being at all in love with the person, to marry a woman who's father is a mighty ridiculous man, a family of beggars and all very odd people."
