Glastonbury, Connecticut

Noah is one of three Tryon patriarchs in Glastonbury. Michael D Tryon has assembled the descendants of Noah and the other two here relying upon US Census records 1790-1850 and other documents. See: Space:Tryon_Families_of_Glastonbury_CT_from_1790-1850

Notes for further research

Of his children, only Noah Jr., Elizur, Penelope, and Mary lived into full adulthood; the others all died young or before marrying. It is doubtful we are missing any children.

Noah seems to have been close to his wife's family. They appear to have been neighbors in Glastonbury, and Noah, his wife, and those of his children who died young are all buried amongst the Hollister family graves at Still Hill Cemetery, Glastonbury.

Hollister Family of America acknowledges that daughter of David Hollister, "Penelope, b. ? m. Noah Tryon of Glastonbury."[10] It also acknowledges that Elijah Hollister marries "Mary, daughter of Noah Tryon of Glastonbury"[11] in 1780.[12] This book and no other sources to date affirm that the Noah Tryon's are in fact the same.

Two adult Noah Tryons (father and son) appear in the Glastonbury census 1790-1850.[13] If these are the only Noah Tryons in the Glastonbury, Connecticut area, then based on dates, the father who married Penelope Hollister would be the same who had a daughter Mary Tryon who married Elijah Hollister. The Tryon Family In America[14] does not document Noah having a daughter Mary; however, his will does list a Mary.[15]

It is unclear how many Mary Tryons who were daughters of Noah Tryons were living in the area at the time to further verify the familial connections.
