Biography

Cross of St George
Unknown (UNKNOWN) Bartlett was born in England.

This profile represents the wife of Richard Bartlett. It is believed that these Bartletts came from Wiltshire. So far, I have not seen or heard of any original records from the area from the sixteenth or seventeenth century which confirm the marriage.

Sometimes believed to be Joanne ("Anne" or "Johan") De Wiltshire born 12 Feb 1576 in Wiltshire, West Sussex, England. These names have been removed from the data fields as there is no source for them and by wikitree standards they can be described in the profile but should not be listed in data fields which are reserved for true aliases or alternate spellings, not theoretical unsourced names.

The only thing regarding her death that can be stated with any reasonable "certainty" is that she was apparently dead before her husband Richard. His probate of 20 May 1647 included a nuncupative will which discussed his children in some detail and stated how little he had in his estate. It made no mention at all of a wife and so most likely she was already dead by this date. Information about the will comes from a rootsweb page[1] which claims: "The nuncupative will of Richard Bartlett, sr., of Newbury, was proved in the Ipswich court 28: 7 : 1647. The following is a copy of the same as recorded in the Ipswich Deeds, volume I, leaf 25". A direct link to the original source has not yet been found. This text does not seem to appear in "The Ancient Records of the Town of Ipswich: Volume 1: 1634-1660 [2]

Whether she died in England or New England is apparently not known.
